Never Say Never-Our Fancy Love Story

Our love story is my FAVORITE. It's the best; it really is!

One winter night in 2009 I attended my little brother's home high school basketball game.

At the game I noticed a handsome little honey sitting a few rows in front of me that just couldn't keep his eyes on the game. {True story I knew his Dad and Mom but not this mysterious handsome man} His Dad and I were chatting it up and sweet Mr. Moon just couldn't figure out who I was and why I was talking with his Dad. {his explanation of the constant stares}

I thank my lucky moons that I was single and ready to mingle with non frog types {over and done with that business} and ready to find the man I had always dreamed of. What makes this story extra funny is that I actualy came home for a blind date and didn't end up going because of meeting Mr. Moon.

Mr. Moon asked his Step-Mom who I was. His Step-Mom and my Mom chatted it up quickly; as in quickly that night.

Rumor has it Mr. Moon muttered the words, "He didn't want some high-maintence girl" and I had always said, "I would NEVER date someone that wore Carhartt".

I'm so thankful our first impressions proved us wrong.

My brother had hunted with Mr. Moon before and I was passionate about living in a city doing fancy things NOT HUNTING, so unlikely pair we are. My brother {who I completely credit this love story to} caught wind of Mr. Moon's interest and texted my number to him. {I may have agreed, I mean have you seen the dominate Moon trait of icy blue eyes} They are wonderful in every way.

Mr. Moon texted me on Christmas Eve morning and wanted to do something that night!
Of course I cleared my schedule and jumped at the chance to get to know that handsome honey I saw at the basketball game.

That night we went to one of Jason's friends house and sat and talked all night long. At the time I was not really looking to date anyone super seriously but I knew we could be best friends.  The one thing he did that night and STILL does today is open my car door. This was and still is a winner winner chicken dinner move in my book. He truly treated me like a princess from the moment we first met.

Our FIRST date alone people had bet Mr. Moon that he couldn't get me to go coon hunting with him. People as in my Dad, brother, and others that were supposed to LOVE me; not throw me out to the wolves at their first chance. Mr. Moon accepted the bet and took me coon hunting. That was also the first and LAST time I went said, coon hunting. I mean holding hands with a good looking guy through a star lit path. {YES please}

Jason proposed a year from our first date before one of my brothers basketball games. He had dinner from the restaurant from our first date complete with my favorite flowers. Thinking about that night still makes me giddy. I remember being soon excited to tell everyone that I was going to be MRS. MOON.

Jason and I knew we both wanted a beach wedding. We got married in Destin Florida our very favorite place to vacation. Initially we talked about going somewhere far more South but I couldn't imagine my wedding day without my Dad walking me down the isle, even if it was a beachy one.

Each year our Destin family picture changes just a little bit more and more and now we have sweet Cole in them.

  1. What a fun love story! And the best part about marriage is that it just gets better with time. :)

  3. Stopping by from the link up. I also married someone I swore up and down I would never even go on a date with. It's amazing how that one guy can change your tune about certain things!
