Fancy Friday: Summer Fun

Happy Friday!!!

My goodness this fancy little space has been quiet lately. Cole and I have been enjoying summer break to its fullest potential!!! We have swam, baked, garage saled, taken walks, napped and lots of other fun little things that toddlers and Mommas like to do.

Today I want to share one of his favorite afternoon activities. Since it's so hot outside we play inside in the afternoon.

My sweet boy hardly ever sits to play and doesn't have the same love I have for crafts except when it comes to playdough!!! This boy LOVES playdough.

We made homemade playdough together and then he is able to play with it whenever he wants. The recipie I use is the same one my Mom used when I was a little kid. It's super easy and super fast.

1. Mix flour, salt, and cream of tartar in a medium pot.

2. Add the liquids; water, food coloring, and oil.
{You will have a fancy fabulous glob of mush}

Stir {constantly} over medium heat for 3-5 minutes. Don't worry of the mixture looks like a mess I promise it will soon turn to a fabulous glop of dough.

When the mixture forms a ball in the center of the pot, turn off the stove and let it cool. Then take it out of the pot and put it on a floured surface. Squish and squeeze it.

When you're all finished store it in an airtight container or ziplock baggies then store it in the refrigerator.

Enjoy!!!

Fancy Little Vacation

We just returned from a fun little vacation to my favorite beach...Destin Florida! Jason and I got married in Destin 4 years ago and we absolutely love going back any chance we get.

This time the trip was centered around my brother who was also getting married on the beach so we made a mini vacation and headed down to Florida to celebrate with him.

The 14 hour car drive can be so boring...unless you have a flute. : ))

When we arrived we went straight to the pool. This sweet boy is constantly pretending that he is Miss Butter...at times it's rather embarrassing but most times insanely humorous.

I think he's a lot like his Dad and hates taking pictures.

I LOVE having a little boy on the beach it is sooo much fun!

I also love that boys never seem to grow up and always love to play when tractors and heavy equipment are involved. My Dad and Jason played longer than Cole.

Even after long naps this silly boy refused to take pictures.

My best boy LOVED the sand! The beaches in Destin are so gorgeous. Cole loved calling the sand, snow.

I love this picture of my Dad and Cole. Cole has the best Papa's. He is very blessed.

I swear the beaches really are THIS beautiful.

Cole was great at the wedding. My favorite part was when he left the wedding full speed to chase a bird. That's my sweet boy.

My other best boy; my brother! I love this kid. He is simply the best. Even though many things have changed I'm still his #1 cheerleader (that will never change). He's so handsome too.

Mr. Moon hates taking pictures but I coaxed him in to it many time on our trip. Love this precious guy.

I swear I am not meant to live in Missouri. My style is definitely southern. I love monograms and smoked clothing which people in Missouri think is so strange. It was funny to be somewhere where all the babies wore smocked clothing and pieces with their monograms. I also love that in the South little girls dressed like little girls; which I'm very passionate about even though I don't have a little girl of my own.

My sweet boy hates waking up from naps. A selfie was my attempt to make him smile...not happening!

This boy is loves to move, move, move!!! I'm sure next year bikes will be on our list of things to do.

Until next next time!!! Have a great day and take a long nap.

Card Organization

It's no secret that I LOVE holidays and I LOVE gift giving. I also love organization but hate "stuff" and clutter. I saw an idea similar to this on Pinterest and I thought it was perfect. Instead of buying cards for each holiday you buy a journal or sketchbook for each person in your family and handwrite or make them in the book.

So this year for Father's Day I thought it would be the perfect time to start. Here is Jason's book. Anytime Cole {and hopefully future babies} want to write or give Jason a card they can pull this book and put them in here.

When Cole woke up from his nap we got started. He is very interested in 'mainting'  also known as painting but does not like it on him. {he gets it from his Momma}

Snapped a quick picture while he was yelling, "Off now, please!"

I put his little footprint on a small pieces of cardstock because of the paint and taped it in the book. Cole put some stickers on the page as well...as you can see.

I'm so excited to start this little family tradition. I love organized handmade cards.

Come On In: Fancy Little Farmhouse Yard

Today I am linking up with Andrea who is the author to one of my very favorite blogs.

Hello and welcome to our yard!!! This is my first year actually being in to my yard and by that I mean I have watered the flowers AND picked weeds. Not everyday mind you, but more than once...which is a big deal for me.

Welcome to the front porch. This is probably my favorite place at our house. It drives me crazy when people {like my husband} say front porches are a waste of space. I LOVE sitting out here with a book and mason jar filled with my favorite beverage of the day.

This little space is all mine so of course there had to be a monogram.

Under the chairs today when I took pictures were our watering cans. Cole loves to water which is a big help.

One reason I swear flowers don't last at our house is because Cole is a fantastic excavator. He pulls plants by the roots and all!!! This picture just captures farm life with a little boy.

Here is a picture of Cole's little container garden. In it is his fair project {lettuce} and a few pumpkins that we planted.

And lots of weeds...as you can see.

As you go up our stairs we have these little pots with our last name. I LOVE this!!! {so thankful our last name is small}

When we build I know {in my mind} just how I want my yard but right now my goal is to find joy in the now so this little place is definitely a work in progress.

Thanks for visiting!!!

Fancy Furniture Re*Do

Before school was out I got this *un-fancy* little beauty from a co-worker. I had a vision for what I wanted and was SO excited that it had the perfect little cubby at the bottom.

This project was very fast. While by best boy played outside I would paint and sand away. I am so new with power tools sanding was quite the adventure. I told Mr. Moon I thought I was being electricuted; it was so powerful.

After replacing the old boring knob with a *fancy* little glass knob from Hobby Lobby and adding a small milk crate in the cubby square I was super pleased with the way it turned out. It's the perfect addition to our little farm house living room.

Anniversary Gift Idea

{Warning: Just a tad mushy}

Four years ago today I married the most wonderful man. The tightest, most grouchy, hardworking old man that ever was.

He's cuter than cute and has the most beautiful eyes. {Moon men are famous for  their eyes}

I'm thankful for the unconditional love he gives to Cole and I and his one of a kind personality. He has a deep love for conservative values that makes me love him even more. He fully believes that if you want something you work for it and work hard. {None of this crazy business of asking for money or mooching off a system.}

I'm thankful that he's a leader, driven to his core, and cute to boot!

Mr. Moon is a hard man to shop for. He's very practical but knows I won't go for his request of "no gifts please" {that's just silly} Thankfully he also appreciates my crazy themed ideas.

I found the original idea on Pinterest; and tweaked it a bit so that I could use stuff I already had at home.

I filled it with a few of his "favorite things" s'more pop tarts, gum, peanut butter mnm's, Diesel Truck Magazine, Classic Truck Magazine, and some other odds and ends.

A Not So Fancy Weekend

This weekend we had a nice and relaxing weekend at home. Our calendar is already filling up for the summer so I'm so thankful for simple summer days.

My best boy and I did some porch sitting...of course this only lasted a few seconds because little mister is on the MOVE all the time.

We played and played with our favorite girl Butter. She is so wonderful to Cole. Cole loves to play puppy with her and I guess she is equally as humored by it because she plays along. She will nibble at his shorts then roll over and he will do the same thing. She crawls along the ground with him while he's being "puppy". I get so tickled. I'm scared that I am turning in to a crazy pet lady because I have already been dreaming up our Christmas card with her. {oh the things I said I would NEVER do}

Cole is obsessed with playing in the dirt! He did this all weekend long.

He helped me plant his fair project and when I turned around to water it the lettuce had already been plucked and excavated!

My FAVORITE thing about summer is napping! Oh how I love a good nap. Unfortunately the boys in my house don't feel the same way. Cole asked me to rock him so I of course jumped on the chance and he was so still. I turned the camera on my phone on to see if he was already snoozing and found this...

Oh how my hands are full. Of course I wouldn't want it any other way!
