Miss Butter

I have wanted Cole to have a dog for a LONG time! Notice I didn't say Puppy. : )

The thought of having to retrieve my flip flops and clothes from the line (if we had a clothes line) from the cattle pastures drove me wild.

Mr. Moon and I have two very different personalities (opposites attract) so of course we were not agreeing on any breeds of dogs...until the very day that we talked about getting a Bassett Hound!  Thankfully we agreed and the rest is pretty much our love story of meeting Miss Lady who is now the oh so fabulous Miss Butter.

My friend Mallory is a veterinarian and we were talking at church about dogs. She said that she had just had a Bassett patient that was a foster dog! I was ESTATIC! She connected me with the fabulous Foster Mom and we arranged our time to meet.

Really the most important thing was that Butter and Cole formed a relationship and Cole liked her. The next (Jason's most important thing) was that she wouldn't chase cattle. Butter passed both of those qualifications with flying colors.

She is really the most precious dog and is oh so good to Cole. Cole cried when we had to go inside the last night. The first thing he asked for when he woke up this morning was his Butter. {melt my heart}

I'm scared I'm going to turn in to some crazy dog lover but I honestly feel like she completely makes our family.

Last night {our first night with Butter} I was sitting on the porch watching Cole and Butter play and I could not quit laughing. Cole would go retrieve barn cats so he could watch Butter chase them.

Our heart is happy and full. We are so excited to spend te day home with our newest addition to Moon Farms.

Funny Farm

My Aunt had the idea to take our boys to a funny farm over Memorial Weekend. Cole absolutely loves animals so we eagerly went along for the ride.

There was quite the array of animals but unfortunately these animals were not fancy in the least bit. I'm still new when it comes to the farm lifestyle that I feel like is somewhat expected of me now. I was THAT Mom that NO-ONE likes (at all) telling their child NO, Don't touch that, Eww! Gross! I'm not sure why but animals that I am not familiar with make me extremely nervous and therefore I guess I focus on their germs and they freak me out.

Cole had a GREAT time and even cried when we left. Maybe that means I can try and talk Jason in to some baby pigs...yeah right!

Yes they had pigs in dog cages...I still can't get past that!

Cole's favorite animal was the puppy!

My next post will be all about our newest addition!!! SHE is super *Fancy* and oh so precious.

Favorite Things: Red White and Blue!

Today I am linking up with Andrea and Erika for a red, white, and blue favorite things party.

Everything I have is under 10$ except for the tent and it's close (atleast that's what I'm telling Jason).

First up is this precious towel from JoAnne's fabric. It was 60% off plus I had an extra coupon so with tax it was $3.10. I thought it was mighty cute.

Here is the tent I've been begging for. Mr. Moon thinks that he's done having babies so I told him if Cole's our one and only he will have a teepee in his room! Even if my best boy has 20 siblings I still think he needs a teepee in his room.

I am OBSESSED with these letters. My friend Lauren sells them in her etsy shop. Cole and I sit in the window and practice his name. I think these would look precious strung from his teepee.

This morning we had a red, white, and blue breakfast and this sweet boy made the muffins. I promise they were muffins only a Mommy would eat. {lots of double dipping}

I'm trying to let him lead discovery and practice Montessori skills at home so he buttered his muffin. Proud Mommy moment right there.

Summer Bucket List

I created a fun little summer bucket list for my best boy and I to focus our efforts on this summer.

I intentionally tried to leave it simple so we have lots of room for summer fun. My goal is to enjoy the here and now with him and create lots and lots of fun memories.

Summer Bucket List

Go on a picnic
Eat breakfast at the park
Thrift
Take treats to our neighbors
Explore Montessori learning
Experience boredom
Ice cream date night
Swim
Take morning walks
Take naps...lots of naps
Read on the porch
Daily devotions with Cole
Sew a project

I would love to hear what's on your summer bucket list.

Fabulous *Fancy* Pasta

I have a fabulously *fancy* pasta recipe to share today. This is super yummy and semi quick, not to mention easy peasy. Mr. Moon is NOT a pasta eater at all and he even enjoys this.

A kindergarten teacher that I work with actually shared this with me so I'm not quite sure where the original recipe is from.

Ingredients:
Italian Sausage
Cheese Tortellini
1 block of cream cheese {told you it was good}
1 can of chicken broth
1 can of Rotel
1 block of frozen spinach (thawed and drained)
2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese

I'm not a chef by any means so if you have any questions just let me know and I will try to clarify.

1. Make little balls out of the Italian sausage and brown them thoroughly on the stove. Drain excess grease and set aside. {I make them about bite size}

2. At the same time you are browning the sausage balls start boiling the tortellini according to package instructions. When complete drain excess water.

3. Mix all the ingredients {except for the mozzarella cheese} in a large pot. Once thoroughly warmed and heated add the shredded mozzarella cheese.

Serve with warm crusty bread and salad.

Enjoy!

Sweet Little Moments

This afternoon was beautiful!!! My best boy and I had so much fun with the water hose.

I want to savor these sweet little summer memories and write them on my heart forever.

He spent some time cleaning and painting his bike with water. I love his attention to detail and how his chubby little hands would work even in the tiniest of cracks.

In his two years and two months he has never randomly fallen asleep. I of course had to document it! I don't think there is anything as precious as a sleeping baby.

I absolutely LOVE this quote.

Happy Tuesday!

Fancy Dumpster Diving

Yes, I finally did it...
and
my family wants to disown me!

I dumpster dived! { I should start with, in my brother and sister in laws trash. } Not some random person down by the river. {Even though I would if I thought there was anything pink, sparkly, or vintage Pyrexy down by said river}

My brother and his fiancé bought a house that was still full of vintage goodies! I even found milk glass, but I told her it was too good for a garage sale and that she should keep it. The house also has a granny square afghan that I am HOT after. I volunteered to price things for their garage sale because I wanted first dibs on all the *fancy* treasures. Those *fancy* treasures that I'm after makes everyone laugh when I want them.

I guess my friend Britney is right in calling me the Monogrammed Grandma. I have a love for treasure hunting, and old thrifty things.

Inside the drawers underneath all the paint was this beautiful paper. I'm absolutely in LOVE!!! It has a minty green color that is kind of hard to see.

My goal is to turn the two cabinet drawers in to a book shelf for Cole's room. I want it pretty chippy, rustic and funky but I don't want it to look weird and trash like at the same time. Does that make sense?

Here is a picture of them stacked, but not complete.

I think with books and some little boy treasures it has the potential to be mighty cute!

Please oh please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Happy Monday!

Fancy Little Cattle Check

I pulled up to the house today and saw this old gal hanging out in the yard. She was prancing around my peonies...

I didn't excite her much so Cole tried...It took Mr. Moon and his fabulous skills to shake her out of my yard.{ Not pictured is my beautiful rose bush she ATE to the ground. She's on the fast track to being ground beef, I tell ya! }
I think this is just Jason's *fancy* way of mowing the yard.

I posted this picture below on Instagram.

Cole is a well rounded boy for sure. He just couldn't decide if he wanted to use his sorting stick for sorting or for practicing his golf swing. (About 20 seconds after this was taken I felt a sharp blow to my face and had a very quick nose job)

Oh Mr. Moon, I sure know how to pick 'em. He's such a handsome guy. He wanted to pick his "blog name" and be refered to as 'The hunky handsome husband' I told him it could be a name; not a phrase or a slogan. : ))

I know this little one is going to give me a run for my money but golly he is sure cute!!!

Hope everyone is having a fabulous Friday Eve!!! Oh what a fabulous reason to celebrate!!!

Bunny *Yum Yum* and a Fancy Giveaway

Happy Wednesday!!! I only have 6 1/2 days of school left and I will be home with my sweet boy all summer. I'm so excited!

Bunny *Yum Yum* is new to our farm. Mr. Moon only likes boring animals like cows, and well cows so he wasn't pleased with my precious purchase of bunny *Yum Yum*. When I envision farm life I envision animals of all sorts. The night I brought home bunny *Yum Yum* Mr. Moon and Papa Moon were less than impressed and thought such an animal was useless on the farm.
Bunny *Yum Yum's* first night home I thought about naming the bunny Pearl, Pom Pom, Sparkles and lots of other "pretty" names. Mr. Moon was still feeling a tad snarky so he said something about how the bunny was sure going to taste good come deer season (never!) and he said, "Yum Yum"! Cole repeated it and the name just stuck!!!

Meet bunny *Yum Yum*...

I would say that even Papa is in love with *Yum Yum* now too.

Yum Yum* is still the perfect pet and sweet as pie to my best boy.

and for the super exciting stuff...

I'm hosting my first giveaway! All you have to do is follow my blog and leave a fancy little comment.

First up for the giveaway I have an adorable monogrammed keychain.You get to pick your design, and well of course your monogram! My friend Claire has the CUTEST etsy store and makes amazing vinyl monograms. I can't wait to get my keychain. I picked pale pink and gold.

My favorite lip gloss is next!!! I just recently found out about Younique and I'm in love! My friend Brandi sells Younique and I absolutely love my lip gloss. I have the dark brown color but I'm going to order a lighter summer color too.  Winner will recieve 1 fancy little lip gloss of there color choice.

Happy Wednesday!

Mother's Day Crafts

I love little DIY projects that are meaningful and fun! I never had an interested in handprint art until I had my sweet boy. Now, I'm obsessed, and I think every holiday is a reason to get the paint out and start treasuring those tiny little prints.

Cole is blessed to have lots of Grandmas and Great-Grandmas; so we whipped up lots of these little pretties for gifts this year.

The pots turned out precious but the kitchen was a MESS! Good thing Daddy was working late and couldn't see it.

Hope you all had a blessed Mother's Day.   The best part of my Mother's Day was my nap! Cole brought me new pajamas that I had been wanting and said, "Mommy nap!"

Fancy Tomato Garden

I finally have my garden in. My two favorite boys did some yardwork on Mother's Day for me. Aren't they quite adorable...

am not a gardening expert by any means but I really want to try canning this summer. This will be my first year attempting to can and I'm hoping our Amish neighbors or my Momma will explain the ropes. Currently my garden is filled to the brim with all sorts of tomatoes. I think I want to add some cilantro and that will probably be it.

Welcome

Hi! My name is Sara! Welcome to our family blog where I will showcase our fancy little life living on a cattle farm. I'm the Momma to 1 boy and wife to Mr. Moon. A farm was the last place I thought I would live, but I can honestly say now, I wouldn't change it for the world.

like to spread my sparkle here and there and the only thing pink on our farm is my closet and the flowers in our yard. I'm an elementary school counselor, avid crafter, thrifter, lover of celebrations, organization freak, and a monogrammed obsessed Momma!

Thanks for stopping by!
